Restorative Yoga

Join me for a calming restorative practice to unwind, relax, open, and refresh on Sunday evenings from 6:30-7:45pm! Join us for an uplifting 108 Sun Salutation practice to mark the change of the season and invite fresh energy and new perspectives into your life. This practice will consist of 108 Sun Salutations, Surya Namaskar A, divided into 4 rounds of 27 Sun Salutes with a break between each round. We will allow our breath to set our pace, which gives the practice a calm steadiness and strength. The number 108 is a highly symbolic number in the yoga tradition as well as many cultures. Moving through this practice at the Solstice is an auspicious time for rejuvenation and growth. It invites a time for personal reflection and deep self-study, so that you may understand what no longer serves you well in your life, let it go, and cultivate what does serve well for the new season. Before the practice, I will go over the significance of the 108, the Winter Solstice, and the Sun Salutation so you will have a full understanding of why this practice can be so powerful and inspiring on many levels. Beginners are welcome, plenty of modifications will be given.

Eight Kali Yuga Yoga Friday, September 20th 6:30 - 8:30pm $25 Join us as we celebrate the arrival of Fall with an invigorating 108 Sun Salutation Practice! The Fall Equinox marks a time when the length of day and the length of night come to near equanimity. This creates an auspicious atmosphere for us to seek and cultivate balance, rejuvenation, and peace. In this surprisingly meditative practice, we will complete 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar A) divided into 4 rounds of 27. Time between rounds will be given for rest, relaxation, and even stepping outside to feel the Fall breeze. Modifications will be given and all levels of students are encouraged to attend! This challenging, yet light-hearted evening allows each student to dive deeper into their own unique yoga practices and feel inspired as they move into a brand new season! Summer Solstice One Oh! Eight Kali Yuga Yoga Friday, June 21st 6:30pm - 8:30pm $25 Join us as we celebrate the Summer Solstice with an invigorating and rejuvinating 108 Sun Salutation practice! I have lead this wonderful ritual for several years now at the mark of each equinox and solstice and each one holds something unique and special. The change of the season is an auspicious time for us to let go of the behaviors and situations that do not serve us well anymore, gain new clarity in the path we walk in the present moment, and set intentions for the future we would like to create. In this workshop, you will learn the significance behind the symbolic number 108, some historical, biological, and energetic information surrounding the Summer Solstice, and dive deeper into your yoga practice on many levels! We will divide 108 Sun Salutions into 4 rounds of 27 with plenty of time for breaks in between. All levels are welcome as modifications will be given. Want to gain a deeper understanding and more confidence in your practice? Join us for a Foundations of Flow workshop at the Unity Yoga Room! This workshop will be perfect for beginners. We will breakdown the fundamentals of the most commonly seen yoga poses in the Vinyasa Flow tradition, explain breath-based movements, and address any questions you may have! Absolutely no previous yoga experience required. If you have always wanted to try yoga, but have been hesitant to jump right in to group classes, this will be great for you and give you a confident foundation! Workshop at Shakti Power Yoga! In this workshop we will breakdown the fundamentals of both arm balances and inversions in an approachable and light-hearted way. These poses tend to be some of the most intimidating poses we encounter in our practices, but with some education and practice they are quite accessible and lots of fun! Beginners are welcome! This workshop will be great for students looking to find their foundations in these poses and for those who are looking to refine their practices through more advanced options. With Liz and I co-teaching, you can expect to receive ample one-on-one attention and get two different, yet complimentary, perspectives on many of the poses you see in a typical vinyasa or power flow class setting. We will begin with a nice warm-up flow, play first with arm balances, then inversions, and put it all together in a fun, dynamic vinyasa! We will cool down with a bit of gentle yin and end the evening with time for questions. It is sure to be a great time, so join us! Tuesday 4:30pm -5:15pm Gentle Flow class at the Unity Yoga Room in Mt. Juliet, TN! The Unity Yoga Room is a brand new studio opening Sunday, April 14th! The studio is conveniently located in the Providence area on Adams Ln. My fellow Unity teachers and I are very excited to share our passion for yoga with the Mt. Juliet community and are looking forward to this new adventure! The Gentle Flow class with be perfect for all levels of students. We will move through refreshing Sun Salutations and explore a variety of postures from strengthening standing poses to deep opening stretches. This class will move at a bit of a slower, sweeter pace making it ideal for beginners and for students looking for a nice middle-ground class to compliment their practices. This is the one and only Gentle Flow class on my teaching schedule, so come join me if you can! It will be a beautiful balance between fluid movement and stillness, strengthening and opening, and refreshing and relaxing. I hope to see you there! Namaste Spring Equinox One Oh! At Hot Yoga Plus Nashville, I will now be teaching a Monday 9:30 -10:45am Power Flow Plus and a Thursday 12:15 - 1:00pm Espresso Flow. I have also recently started teaching a Restorative class at the Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:15pm. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of this amazing center. The Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health uses mindfulness pratices and therapies, such as Yoga, in combination with traditional medicine to facilitate healing and enhance overall well-being. The Sunday Restorative yoga class is designed to create a space for relaxation, ease, and awareness. In this class, we use props (bolsters, blankets, chairs, etc.) to minimize the physical effort required for each pose. This allows us to settle into the poses with ease and comfort. In our restorative practice, we recieve the physical, mental, and energetic benefits inherent to yoga while expending a minimal amount of energy creating deep restoration, nourishment, and balance on all of the levels of our being. It a beautiful compliment for busy lifestyles and creates a wonderful environment for healing, peace, and mindfulness. Drop-in's are welcome. Register here. Namaste |
