Rebecca is a Yoga teacher, artist, and Physical Therapist Assistant. She fell in love with Yoga in early 2008. Seeds had been planted along the way with introductions to Yoga in her teenage and college years, but it wasn't until she attended her first class at Kali Yuga Yoga in Nashville, TN as a young professional that she realized how powerful this practice was and it took root in her life. After a few years of practice , she was filled with a calling to share the benefits of Yoga with others. She embarked on a whole new path to pursue teaching Yoga as both her passion and her profession. In 2010, She completed her 230 Hr. Teacher Training at the Asheville Yoga Center with Stephanie Keach and Shala Worsley. In 2014, she earned her 500 Hr. Advanced Teaching Certification through the Asheville Yoga Center.
Rebecca's teaching style is influenced by an eclectic blend of Yoga traditions. Her classes are a blend Vinyasa and Yin. She also has training in Prenatal Yoga, Senior Yoga, Yoga as Therapy, Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga, and is Reiki Level II certified. Rebecca is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology, and she is a graduate of the Volunteer State Physical Therapist Assistant program. Rebecca's education in science is integral to her teaching. It informs her use of yoga postures, flow sequences, and provides an excellent framework to individualize the practice to best serve her students. In addition to science, Rebecca connects deeply the "art" of Yoga. She brings creativity to her class themes and flows, shares metaphors to help apply Yoga Philosophy to daily life, and includes plenty of freedom for personal practice in her classes. Rebecca's classes are known for their balanced approach linking moments of challenge and ease, movement and stillness, as well as focus on the internal (mental, emotional, spiritual) and external (physical). Her classes have picked up the nickname "Sweetness" over the years for their nourishing and balanced feeling. All in all, Rebecca’s classes create a calm, supportive environment for students to deepen and explore their practices.
