Fall Equinox 108, Sacred Silence, & Meditation Practice Saturday Sept. 24th 6:30 - 8:30pm Kali Yuga Yoga $25
The Fall Equinox is a moment when the lengths of day and night near equanimity which creates an atmosphere of balance that lends itself well to personal reflection, fresh perspectives, and setting new intentions for yourself as you move into a new season of your life. This practice will be based around those ideas of self-study to invite a space of clearing and awareness. We will begin with an introduction where you will learn much more about the meaning behind the symbolic number 108 and the energetic and astronomical components of the Fall Equinox. We will then move into an intention setting meditation and pranayama (breath-work) practice and then begin a practice of 108 Sun Salutations. We will divide 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar A) into four rounds of 27. The pace of this practice is set by the rhythm of your own breath cycle allowing it to have a calm steadiness and to feel like an individualized moving meditation. There will be plenty of time between each round for breaks to meditate, rest, or step outside. Throughout the practice of the 108 and afterward we will hold a space of sacred silence, mauna, to absorb the reflective nature of this practice and the clarity and goodness it may bring. After the Sun Salutations we will have a closing meditation practice and peaceful savasana. Join us for this special practice and set your self up well for a new season!
*The physical nature of this practice does pose some level of challenge depending on the individual. The challenge is an attainable one, though! It can be empowering to wisely move through moments of physical challenge and break through mental barriers by cultivating discipline, listening to the will of you heart, and finding strength in yourself and your intentions. Many modifications will be given so you can approach the postures in ways that are appropriate for your body and practice.
